Free SMEG Dishwasher Scam Email

Free SMEG Dishwasher Scam Email

This email scam claims to offer a free SMEG dishwasher just for testing it out! Don’t fall for this one. It’s a poor attempt at infecting your computer with malware. Keep reading to find out how to identify it as a fake and delete it from your inbox if received.

Figure A shows the email in question. The subject line reads “Get for FREE & Test the new dishwasher from SMEG” while the sender is shown at “Smeg testpanel: TESTERS WANTED”. Did you notice it looks like spam already? The lack of care in the wording is a clear indicator as well as the irrelevant sender email address. It is a very simple email with one clear call-to-action pushing you to click through. Do not click any links in this email, it will put your computer at risk of a malware infection.

Also note the disclaimer paragraph at the bottom, which states “E-mail transmission cannot be guaranteed to be secure or error-free as information could be intercepted, corrupted, lost, destroyed, arrive late or incomplete, or contain viruses. The sender therefore does not accept liability for any errors or omissions in the contents of this message, which arise as a result of e-mail transmission.” This is a clear indication of its true intentions.
